Engage in thought-provoking sessions led by renowned speakers and participate in rejuvenating activities like Mindfulness, Yoga, Labyrinth Walks, Line Dancing, Farm Walks, Drumming, art, Ageless Grace, Logo Therapy and Goedgedacht Pilgrimage.
ROTARIANS put out an appeal to members, friends and supporters asking for donations of scarves and woolly winter clothing items. Collection boxes were placed in the Riebeek Valley Tourism office in Kasteel and another collection point was set-up in the Pick ‘n Pay store in West.
The response from our public was immediate and generous. Dozens and dozens and dozens of scarves were distributed on the Plein in Kasteel and at POP centres in the twin towns.
The Riebeek Valley Wine Emporium generously hosted our first Soup 4 Soccer dinner to benefit KICKSTART. Donating both their beautiful venue and glasses of their Pieter Cruythoff champers to help welcome Rotarians and their guests. Our friends and members cooked up an array of warming soups, delivered bread and laid on a scrumptious selection of deserts.
The hard working distributors of scarves came in from the cold to join their colleagues in raising R16000,00 and some change to boost our KickStart programme.
Rotary stepped in to aid the FOR LIFE centre at Riebeek West. For Life (now on the move between the various POP centre’s and other venues in The Valley) is an educational and life enriching Community Arts Concept, that offers teaching and counselling. The skills transference processes and counselling practises are based on Viktor Frankl’s principles for the enhancement of both Art and Life. This model holds that meaning and purpose in life are the keys to fulfilment and that outwardly directed goal orientation based on inner truth is the foundation of happiness.
The project seeks to identify and nurture talent. For Art. For Life. Developing the talent for living ones best life, which FOR LIFE believes is based on building inner strength and personal abilities directed towards making the world a better place.

Rotarians and volunteers from across District 9350 put time in to act as marshals at two of South Africa’s premier cycling events. The Winelands Cycle Tour and The Cape Cycle Tour. These premier events are arranged by our sister clubs at Paarl and Claremont. Every little bit counts when collecting for ROTARY!
Step back in time and relive a day of motoring nostalgia at the highly successful first-ever Riebeek Valley Motor Show, which took place on September 9, 2023. Guests were treated to a remarkable display of classic cars, vintage tractors, and motorcycles, spanning different eras. The event also featured mouthwatering food, refreshing drinks, and non-stop entertainment.
We are delighted to announce that all proceeds from this past event were donated to valuable local community projects.
When DG Ann came to visit our rather young in establishment Rotary Club of the Riebeek Valley she surprised us all with her request. However we were afforded pride in the fact that she deemed us capable of organizing and holding a weekend conference.
The chosen topic was Mental Health. In a world of stress it was good to learn that in our care of our families and the surrounding community projects CARE of the CARER is paramount to mental health. The talks by professionals on this subject together with topics such as Mindfulness, Ageless Grace, Art, Music,Yoga and Logo Therapy amongst other carefully chosen subjects were illuminating. Proof of their acceptance by all was illustrated, at our closing meeting, by a burly retired farmer from the Free State who had been skeptical at the chosen topics but who admitted to benefitting from the information.
We had 70 delegates attending from 27 Rotary Clubs from District 9350, some from as far away as George, Mosselbay, Oudtshoorn and Swellendam. Many were strangers to each other initially, but sharing the Riebeek Valley experience, enjoying close of day social times, and a lively dinner and dance encouraged deeper friendships. We all acknowledged our shared vision and community spirit and reluctantly parted ways on Sunday vowing to share another Conference experience soon.
Thanks must be extended to the organizing team of only 4 members, the many helpers, the session leaders and Goedgedacht’s capable and friendly staff. It was an exemplary achievement!
We are delighted to announce that all proceeds from this past event were donated to valuable local community projects.
